Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Ipoh 2026 at AEON BIG Falim
The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, marketed as the World's Biggest Book Sale, has returned to Ipoh for an 11-day run at AEON BIG Falim from 3 July 2026, with opening hours of 10.00 am to 10.00 pm daily. Entry is free and the discount model that made the brand famous is in full effect: books start from as low as RM3, with stacked instant discounts the more you spend. This year's Ipoh edition adds a gold-bar lucky draw on top of the usual markdowns.
How the gold-bar lucky draw works
The grand prize is a Valcambi 10-gram gold bar, and Big Bad Wolf has built several entry pathways so walk-in visitors are not shut out. Spend a minimum of RM85 on a single receipt and you automatically earn one entry under the "Spend & Win" track. Or skip the spend and enter via "Snap & Win": take a photo with the on-ground prize display, post it on your social media, tag the official Big Bad Wolf Books accounts, and you earn one entry. On launch day, 3 July, the Snap & Win track multiplies entries fivefold, so a single creative photo on opening day yields five chances instead of one.
Two pre-event online contests also feed into the draw. "Prizes for Prices" runs on social media before the doors open — guess the price of featured books and five winners per round pick up an RM10 cash voucher. "Share & Win" simply asks followers to share the official Lucky Draw campaign post for one free entry. The cumulative effect is that a motivated shopper who engages both on-ground and online can rack up a meaningful number of entries without overspending.
The discount tiers and daily early-bird voucher
Beyond the lucky draw, the sale leans on its tiered instant discounts applied at checkout. Spend RM100 in a single receipt and RM5 comes off; RM150 takes RM10 off; RM200 takes RM15 off. A separate "Returning Customer Reward" gives anyone who spends RM85 in a single receipt an RM15-off voucher for a subsequent visit, which effectively incentivises two trips across the 11-day run. Students and teachers get an additional 5% discount on a minimum purchase of three books, in line with the brand's stated literacy advocacy.
Each day, the first 50 customers through the doors receive a complimentary RM10 cash voucher, redeemable against a minimum spend of RM85. On launch day, 3 July, Big Bad Wolf also runs "Launch Day Specials" — heavily discounted titles available only on opening day. Arriving at opening time on the first weekend is the play if you want both the early-bird voucher and first crack at the freshest stock.
Who the sale suits in Ipoh
The AEON BIG Falim venue puts the sale in the Falim corridor on the western side of Ipoh, a 10-minute drive from the city centre via Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman. Parking is in the AEON BIG lot itself, which is large but does get tight on weekend afternoons. The sale is genuinely family-friendly: children's picture books, young-adult fiction, cookbooks, business and self-help titles, and a deep remainder-bin section all share the floor. Teachers stocking classroom libraries, parents buying ahead of the school term, and collectors hunting out-of-print titles are the visible regulars at Big Bad Wolf Ipoh editions.
A practical note on payment: card and e-wallet payments are accepted at checkout, and the cash vouchers stack with the tiered instant discounts, so the order of application matters at the till. Bring a sturdy bag — the book boxes at the entrance are not complimentary — and wear layers, because the air-conditioned hall runs cold over a multi-hour browse.
